http://www.cdc.gov/co/faqs.htm  This is a fact sheet about carbon monoxide poisoning.  Although it is written for humans, the same priciples apply to our pets.  Keep in mind that chronic exposure can potentially cause seizures and other neurological signs.  Please have your furnaces and other appliances checked at least yearly.  This will help protect you and your family, the two legged and four legged members.
